Superman never swoops in to save the day
when a Korean boy is locked in a prison to starve.
He instead only flies for his adopted people,
the ones who welcomed the alien with open arms
as long as he fought for democracy and freedom
and the American way.
Then they realize that
firefighters don’t have to fight fires when He
puts them out with a breath and
cops don’t have to fight crime when He
stops the criminals with a look. He
becomes he again for stealing too many jobs.
Finally, he leaves to go save that Korean boy,
but it’s far too late;
the boy had died a long time ago.
I once asked Superman to show me his papers
and he laughed like he laughed at machine guns,
not knowing that paper cuts deeper than bullets.
